((I was trying to draw HW&HD Fluffmoon, I really was. I even looked up uniforms and everything.

Yet, somehow, I ended up with a tiny drawing of ickle baby Artemis instead, and the idea for Fluffmoon has vanished as though it had never been.

Because little!Artemis is Just That Cute.))

Briar: *conversation apparently over, Briar straightens as the Cloverfae wander off as a group and catches sight of Laramie* *smiles warmly, turning to face him* Hello again, Tigerlily.

Laramie: *ducks his head, a blush creeping over his cheeks* H-hello, sire... I... um... *gah, tongue no worky! Words not coming!*

Briar's lip quirks, taking a step forward to stand next to him, head on one side and waiting patiently. One thing at a time, Laramie..!

Laramie: *takes a few deep breaths* Ijustwantedtosaythankyou-! *bows slightly - can't help it - and holds still, waiting...*

*...The Rose King's face lights up as he smiles, looking and sounding so very pleasantly surprised* What in earth for? *looks like he's about to clap his hands and bounce up on his toes with delight*

Laramie: *cringes* *can'tlookathimcan'tlookathimcan'tlookathim...* For - for letting me - and for - *agh, gives up* For your kindness... *lamely*

*long, pale hands wrap around his, drawing them forward as Briar bends to look him in the face* You have nothing to thank me for.

Laramie: *...ohgods* *and every instinct is telling him don't argue with a noble, just say 'yes sire' and have done, but he can't stop his mouth from forming the words* Y-yes I do. Y-you didn't have to let me in, or let Mistress Borage heal me without getting in trouble. You didn't have to let me drink you water. A-and you didn't have to smile at me... *oh damn, that's too much*

Briar: *his eyebrows are rising higher and higher, listening in blank amazement as Laramie goes on* *...holds his hands tighter, stroking with his thumbs as he fixes his gaze on Laramie's face* *voice level, but with ringing conviction* Violet, you are here because I want you to be. You do not have to apologise or ask permission or thank me for such things, do you understand?

Laramie: *breath hitches at the utter, immutable conviction in the fae lord's voice, the human's will swept aside in an instant by his unfairly-kind majesty* *lowers his head and answers in a near-whisper* Yes, sire...

Briar: *lets go with one hand to cup his cheek, skin as cool and smooth as rose-vines to the touch* ...And you needn't bow to me. I don't want you to grovel, violet.

((*...suddenly wonders if they switch between calling Laramie 'tigerlily' and 'violet' depending on how ferocious/shy he's being in that part of the conversation*))

Laramie: *lifts his eyes in spite of himself, trembling and unsure and completely under the Rose King's spell* I... yes, sire, I'll try to remember...

((Seems like something Briar would do. If nothing else, he might want a name to call Laramie all his own before Laramie's given him official permission to call him by his real name.

Also, you realize I may have to write this entire scene pretty much as played in the book proper. *snuggles my dear, darling muse*))

Briar: *smiles at him, eyes warm and welcoming* Good. *leans closer and kisses him on the mouth, the same way he would for anny other of his subjects* You needn't be so formal here.

((So, so much glee. <3 *cuddles back and beams at you* Glad I could help - though god knows what Laramie'll do now. O-o Incorregible Fae!))

Laramie: *stare* *bzuh* *brain shut down now*

((...that about covers it. *flails* Bad Roseking! No breaking the violet!))

Briar: *doesn't notice anything for a second, then blinks and looks at him again* ...Are you all right? *confused*

((Um...oops? In his defence, he claims 'culture clash'... *hides*))

Laramie: *opens his mouth to reply* *...shuts it* *...hides under nearest bush*

Briar: *startled and completely flummoxed, doubletakes* ...Violet, what is it? *drops to his knees to peer under the bush, utterly lost*

Laramie: *whimpers apologies and covers his eyes, trembling fretfully*

Felix: *is suddenly and inexplicably at Briar's shoulder* ...what happened?

Briar: I don't know! *looks over at him, completely lost for words* I told him he didn't need to be so formal or worry about thanking us, that was it... *looks unde rthe bush again, hair drailing in the dirt* Violet, what part of that could have made you want to run?

Laramie: *shakes his head mutely - it wasn't any of that-!* *gestures inarticulately, his fingers curling in front of his mouth*

Felix: *looks from one to the other* ...are you sure it wasn't your sterling humility?

Briar: *comes close to flailing at him* No it was not! *drops flat on his front in the grass, peeking in at Laramie. Hand in front of mouth, what- oh!* ...Oh. It's all right, violet, I'm not poisonous... *reassuring, faint smile*

Laramie: N- nnh- *closes eyes and retreats again - he doesn't want - that, does he?*

Felix: *bends to peer at them both* What is it, Rosa?

Briar: *is Perplexed again* Well, if it's not that, then I haven't the faintest idea. *it doesn't even occur to him that Laramie could be fretting over the kiss itself - what is there to worry about, after all? A kiss is a kiss is a kiss...*

Laramie: *is starting to get his voice back* Hhh- wh- what- why-

Felix: *eyes sharpen* My lord, by chance did you kiss him?

Briar: *nonplussed* Yes, why? *is this going somewhere important? Because it's really not the right time if Felix is being kinky...*
